COLORS; OIL SLICKS MIGHT BE A BETTER TITLE

Definitely NOT an "Oil Slick" but a "weave'' with one edge rippled.

Two steps and this one said "I'm Done just as I am". This doesn't happen often enough, or perhaps I don't let it happen often enough. . . . hum, something to think about.

Another with jolousie effect and water ripple before adding framework, above and below.

This one is the base image for the next two. As well as for the thrid one which had additional "modifications and manipulations". This third one shown was actually the first one made in this group.

I love the fiery color of this one. Needs a really good name though, so post your ideas!

SAME, YET DIFFERENT. . . .

This is the image that was used to create the following (SAME, YET DIFFERENT) graphic images. Of course I did preform a few other manipulations first, including changing the color to negative and then using a couple of different "brush strokes".

For those curious about this flower, the plant is a perennial and fall is it's normal bloom time. The "type" for this species behind this hybrid is pink on a white to cream back ground. Grows best in a moist, organically rich spot where the roots can stay cool yet the plants can get early morning or late afternoon sun; getting both would be optimal, but no direct noon day sun. It will tolerate container culture with heavy winter protection.

More September Fun: Naturally Weird

Commonly known as "Giant Cockscomb" (Celosia cristata), this plant (an annual no less) can reach 36 to 38 " tall ad with blooms reaching as much as 12 across. They seem to do much better with really warm weather. Excellent as a container plant too! Flower heads can be dried for use in dried flower arrangements and will hold their color even w/out any special treatment. Produces millions of seeds!

First and last images were shot with my new Kodak Z1012IS, one in the middle with my old Samsung Digimax 201 (also have a new Samsung SL30, NICE!)

More September Fun

These two "red with green" renderings were originally the bloom heads of Giant Cockcomb, an annual that left un-manipulated is pretty weird all on its own! (Second image also shown in a previous post. Will show the "real thing" next - or rather you will see the "real thing" first!

September - When Mother Earth . . . .

Prepares for a much needed rest. It's been a dry month here in Central Indiana (USA) and I am not expecting very good fall color because of it. Hopefully areas south of me will have a top notch Fall, I'm just glad in a way) that summer is over and I can relax - not for long though! I expect to be planting bulbs next month; tulips, daffodils, alliums and several of the "minor" types of spring and summer flowering bulbs. I'll also be potting up new Hippeastrums (Amaryllis) to enjoy indoor bloom some beginning as soon as Christmas and many more to get me through the dark days of Winter and into early spring. In fact, I have many new "Amaryllis" coming so I may have to set up a new blog just for them!

Finishing August

I started to start uploading the few images I feel worthy for September then remembered I hadn't finished August yet! At least I can blame it on old age since it's past the middle of August not to mention the middle of September!

As with all "Untitled" works, please feel free to make suggestions and if I like them they will get used and you may get a full sized hi-res file - if I have them available. Your comments are also welcomed and will be posted if appropriate. (No spam please!)

August Renderings. . . .

August seems such a lazy, languid month and even my creative side seems to take a holiday but I do have a few to post from this first week of the month. Not all are complete "fabrications" as you will see and I continue to experiment with various filters/effects available on Irvanview as well as exploring Photoshop Elements 5 - lots of new/different things there. Some good, some not to good.
