BACK TO WHAT I KNOW

This seeming normal image ( a close up) of twigs with moss and lichens I have in a 55 gallon terrarium went through many changes, the least of which was to select only a section of it to really work with.




That second had it's colors enhanced - brightened and saturated, then pasted onto a new black background just a bit larger. It was further manipulated by blurring the entire image and then "pointalizing" the colors several times. Above you see the diffusion mode. After that the entire image was put through an "extruder" to reshape the different points of color into triangles.




The triangle were then twirlled lightly to the right and then a polar distortion done. Once this desired effect was reached, the mat and frame was added rendering the above image.




In this view I backed up a few steps and added the water ripples effect, which really proved to be one step too far, but also after that "just one more cup of coffee for the day!

WHEN IDEAS FAIL TO MATERIALIZE

This is what I got, although NOT what I had envisioned after first having come up with:


I wanted a more "watery" surface with only the head sharply defines and the the ail and mid-body area softened and slightly askew as if viewed through the waters' surface. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Sprites, or Are They Snakes?

This is the "original" whatever it is - sprite or weird snake! I thought it had potential so I kept it and played with it some more. This next image is what resulted after I changed the black background to a transparent background.

I then pasted several of the embellished object to create the next image.




Combining both resulted in this one.


I have several "morphs" of the original but have not come up with a way to use them that would not give people, or me, nightmares! I also have a few more in this vein that I am working on that should also be pretty weird when finished!

A Couple of Random Images

Take a shot at giving this one a title! Could it be a reflection of something in a puddle of rain? Or something else, perhaps unworldly?


This one reminds me of what a puddle of rainwater looks like on new asphault; thoughts for a name, anyone?

FOUR FROM ONE

Believe it or not, all four of these "images" were created from one basic image that had originally been altered via Irfanview and the Harry's Filters plug-ins. The second image down is that image.

Pizza Anyone!

Don't know why, but this one made me think of pizza when it first started to take form on my screen. So now we have "Slices"of Pizza, anyone?

I've Been BUSY!

Actually this one came second as I wanted to see what change wold happen if I ever so slightly twirled the image, hence "Free Fall". I didn't feel this one really needed the "frame" so I opted to do just the double mat around the dimensionally matted central image.












I had been watching a rather large squadron of Sand Hill Cranes fly over the afternoon I made this. They seemed a bit disorganized, like they were waiting for someone to take the lead and no one wanted to! Eventually one bird did take on the responsibility of lead bird and they all vanished from sight as they climber ever higher for a long night journey to their northern nesting and breeding grounds. I wish they would fly close enough that I could really see them as individual birds and not just various sized black specks in the sky.











This is the basic form that started it all! I extrude the image into extended triangles, blacken the background and then twirl and contort until I got something pleasing to the eye. Often I added a "lenses flare". Most of the time there were no "frames" as I did not have the filter sets needed to add them. That has changed!

Just a little something to keep your interest while I work on some new stuff that I hope will be as exciting as I think it will be. I used the "Harry's Filters" in my Irfanview image editor and got some really different looks. Now I am off to see what else I can do with them! I will give you a hint; the original of this first image was the catalyst for what is to come. ;)

"Cubism" (with Attitude!) I like the textures I was able to bring out in this one; some strong, most are subtle though. Enjoy!

"Stained Glass Window"

This one is a wee bit off center, especially at the base, but I still like it. Doing a lot of transparencies an they copy and pasting them onto a new black and am not always getting them aligned perfectly. Part of the fun is in the experimentation though.

UNTITLED

Neither of these were able to draw a title for me, but I liked the results so much I had to post them! If anything, "Untitled 1 - 3-3-2009" makes me thing of a sculpted Boxwood shrub, or perhaps a "Topiary".

SAND PAINTING III

"Sand Painting III" The last of this "series" also the largest. I've called them "sand" paintings because of the sandstone texture used and how the various other filter applications seemed to move the colors around.

INSPIRED BY THE WORKS of OTHERS

"Wounded Knee"

A lot of what I do is inspired by the beautiful works of others. This group of four came from one Apo (Flame) Fractal by my friend, Ali, from Italy. The original color tones were greens but when I did a simple color correction with Irfanview all these wonderful blues, lavenders and shades of pink showed up. I have had a lot of fun working different elements of this one fractal and may explore it further, still. Enjoy!

CABIN FEVER!

A friend wondered what would happen if I were to "work my magic" on an image she had of this Amaryllis 'Ruby Meyer'. So I accepted the (mock) challenge and these are what came out of just a little "play time".








First comes the elimination of the background so the image can be more easily converted into a transparent background:

Then I pasted a left and right of the basic image onto a black background. You can see what happens from here!

I've a few other things I'd like to try with this one but they require background images I first need to find!

MORE FUN STUFF:

This one is a single of a larger, multi-floral piece posted earlier. Each bloom was pasted into place, one at a time and it all started with this one image that had already been run through various effects.

EVOLUTION

Who'd a thunk it that this lovely image of 'Apricot Sparkles' could be taken through such strange manipulations and turned into something totally unrecognizable! That is what I do though; take a normal image and process it through multiple steps, including the use of various "filters" to eventually "morph" the simple into the WEIRD!
"Why?" you ask,well, for no other reason then simply that, "I can"!

Apricot Sparkles "Pop Art" - one bloom with 4 different "color treatments". Treatments are stitched together horizontally, and then vertically. The background is then removed. Then additional processes render the finished images that follow. (Shows up as a white background here, but it is really transparent.

"Mirrored Orbs" would be a good title for this one.

Rotated to the right, flipped and different effects added. This one is not currently titled.

I call this one - "Comma" - real original, eh!
